In a recent post we announced that it was now possible to link your WCA account to your existing Cubing Contests email + password account and then link your WCA competitor profile to your CC user. Due to various complications, it is no longer permitted to link your WCA account to an email + password account. New users can simply choose between the two login methods (note that the website won't permit two accounts to be created with the same email address). Existing email + password users have the following options:

1. Delete the email + password account and create a new account using WCA login. In this case, the user details, including the linked competitor profile and the role will be lost, but you can then link your WCA competitor profile to the new account automatically. Moderators choosing this option will have to reapply for mod access.
2. Keep using the email + password account. In this case, competitor profile linking has to be done by an admin.

We have deleted email + password accounts for users who already went through the account linking process since the previous update. This means that they'll be able to log in using their WCA accounts and still get access to their user profile with the same details, but they won't be able to log in using their old email and password credentials anymore.

Please note that this is not about WCA competitor profile linking. Users using the WCA login method will still be able to link their WCA competitor profiles automatically without admin help.
